Job Summary

Provide high-quality medical interpretation and translation services to patients and healthcare teams at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and timely interpretation services in a medical setting, utilizing various techniques to ensure effective communication.
  • Translate written medical information for internal and external customers, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to hospital policies.
  • Assist in patient education, providing clear and concise information to promote informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • 1 year of direct experience in medical interpretation or a related field.
  • UNMH Inter/Translator Med Qual-Adv High or Superior Score certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Light work environment with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • May be required to perform on-call duties.
