Position Overview
The Speech-Language Pathologist will be responsible for assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders in a designated patient population. This role includes providing expert consultation to medical, educational, and allied health professionals, as well as educating patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients with communication disorders, utilizing both standardized and non-standardized assessment tools. Document findings in accordance with hospital protocols.
    • Develop personalized therapy plans tailored to each patient's needs, setting clear treatment goals and tracking progress.
    • Communicate evaluation results and treatment recommendations to patients and their families, providing guidance on home therapy programs.
    • Collaborate with healthcare and educational teams to enhance patient communication skills.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Engage in departmental activities, including meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Educational Contributions:
    • Deliver educational sessions within the hospital and to the broader community.
    • Provide mentorship to students and clinical fellows, fostering their professional development.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of licensed experience is required, with preference given to those with pediatric medical experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical abilities to independently identify and resolve clinical challenges.
    • Proficient in various assessment techniques for pediatric speech and language disorders.
    • Basic understanding of research methodologies and statistics.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Speech & Language Pathology License (Pennsylvania) is required within three months of hire.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred within three months of hire.
