Welding Process Engineer Overview:
This position involves overseeing welding processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Technology, along with a minimum of five years of experience in the aerospace sector, specifically working with various alloys including nickel, stainless steel, ferrous, and aluminum.
Compensation:
Competitive pay range of $45-54 per hour, with direct hire placement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and resolve issues related to critical weldments, ensuring adherence to best practices for weld fit-up, cleanliness, and welding parameters.
- Establish and document welding parameters to enhance production efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis and manage the disposition of non-conforming hardware.
- Perform statistical process analysis to optimize welding operations.
- Define specifications and requirements for welding machines.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customer representatives regarding welding processes and solutions.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for candidates possessing nine or more years of relevant experience. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory, and candidates may need to meet federal requirements for access to government information.
Additional Skills:
- Experience in developing welding parameters for Electron Beam (E.B.) welding, manual, In-Place Tube, or Automatic Gas Tungsten Arc (G.T.A.) welding.
- Familiarity with Torch Weld Jigs (TWJ) and setting up weldments for precise shrinkage adjustments.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and application of welding specifications.
- Experience with process capability and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of E.B. welding concepts and electronic planning documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in D17.1 or Journeyman Welding.
- Experience in writing welding machine specifications.
- Proficiency in using electronic planning tools and drawings.
Work Environment:
The role may involve both indoor and outdoor activities, with varying conditions that include temperature fluctuations and noise levels. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform tasks such as climbing, bending, and reaching. Personal protective equipment may be necessary.
Shifts:
Candidates should be prepared to work varying shifts to support operational needs.
