Job Title: Associate Dean

Join the Texas A&M University-Commerce team as an Associate Dean in the College of Humanities, Social Sciences & Arts (CHSSA). This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position with a tenured appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a productive and collaborative atmosphere among faculty and staff.
  • Mentor faculty and support their professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean and senior administration to build a positive culture and effective structures, policies, and channels of communication.
  • Contribute to the leadership of College initiatives and programs at Commerce and other University campuses and platforms.
  • Optimize work processes, strategic budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the departments with the Dean, the graduate school, the registrar, and institutional effectiveness research office and other campus offices as needed.
  • Curriculum & Instruction:
    • Maintain primary responsibility in advising the Dean on all matters related to scheduling and staffing curriculum delivery.
    • Ensure that departmental course offerings optimize resources and are scheduled in a timely manner to ensure the smooth flow of student progress toward graduation.
Requirements:
  • Earned doctorate in a discipline represented in CHSSA or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Academic background commensurate with the rank of associate professor or higher.
  • Proven experience record as a Department Head, Assistant Dean, or Associate Dean.
  • Higher education teaching experience with evidence of teaching excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship.
  • Experience with successful accreditation.
  • Active regional or national profile in the applicant's professional or scholarly field.
