Job Summary
Baltimore City Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for a part-time faculty position to teach American Sign Language courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, which may include day, night, or weekend classes.
Responsibilities
- Teach American Sign Language courses to students of varying skill levels.
- Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning and engagement.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement course syllabi that align with institutional guidelines.
- Meet with students to discuss their progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Maintain current knowledge and expertise in American Sign Language and Deaf culture.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in American Sign Language or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience in ASL.
- Strong foundation in American Sign Language and ASL pedagogy.
- Extensive knowledge of Deaf culture and community.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASLTA certification or ASLPI score of 4.0 or higher.
- 3 years of experience teaching American Sign Language.
