Project Engineer Job Description

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our cross-functional engineering team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and managing engineering research, as well as managing design, development, and manufacturing projects involving antenna and transceiver communications systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply design and application knowledge of complex communications systems (antennas, transceivers, networks, etc.)
  • Actively engage in engineering research, design, development, and sustaining projects
  • Responsibility for project schedule, budget, and drives cross-functional technical team to achieve technical objectives
  • Lead a team through complete product lifecycle phases including requirements, concept development, design reviews, validation and verification, and release to production using established formal IEEE systems engineering process
  • Responsible for managing relationships between customers, technical staff, and supply chain
  • Have a vision for innovation on existing products and propose cutting-edge technological opportunities for the advancement of communications systems
Requirements:
  • Broad understanding of Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) experience
  • Strong planning skills including defining requirements, time estimating, communicating progress to stakeholders at each phase of project, documentation, and testing
  • Broad Engineering background sufficient to analyze design data related to electrical, software, mechanical, and physical science disciplines
  • Proven experience with managing major suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated skills in all areas of business development including opportunity qualification, capture strategy, customer visits, customer relationship development, relationship development with competitors, team leadership, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 4-8 Years of project and/or program management experience
  • Experience with Project Management, Project Engineering, and/or Systems Engineering
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus
  • Earned Value Management Experience
  • Experience communicating with multi-disciplined engineering teams
  • Experience working with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

US Citizenship required. Must have an active Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain.
