Job Title: Chronic Absenteeism Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Chronic Absenteeism Specialist to join our team at Paterson Public Schools. The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving student attendance and academic success.

Job Summary:

The Chronic Absenteeism Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism among students. This will involve working closely with teachers, parents, and community partners to identify and support students who are struggling with attendance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement attendance improvement plans for students with chronic absenteeism
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to identify and support students who are struggling with attendance
  • Work with parents and community partners to develop strategies to improve student attendance
  • Monitor and track student attendance data to inform attendance improvement plans
  • Provide support and resources to students and families to improve attendance and academic success
Requirements:
  • Hold at least a High School Diploma (College Degree Preferred)
  • Have experience working with youth in a multicultural/urban environment
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, including the ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage projects independently
  • Demonstrate excellent command of the English language, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrate skills in maintaining case folders on each student and writing reports
  • Demonstrate the ability to use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with culturally diverse stakeholders
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations
  • Exhibit integrity and demonstrate good moral character
