Job SummaryThe Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the preparation and care of surgical instruments and supplies. This includes maintaining established inventory levels, ordering supplies, and performing testing of sterilizers.
Key Responsibilities- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, medical supplies, and equipment
- Assemble, wrap, and sterilize trays of instruments
- Monitor biological and chemical wash solution for quality and consistency
- Sort mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment
- Operate bar code instrument tracking system
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Instrument technician experience or equivalent experience in hospital materials management department
- Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required
- CRCST-Certified Registered Central Service Technician (IAHCSM) or CSPDT-Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CBSPD)
- Graduate of an accredited sterile processing/central service curriculum inclusive of a clinical rotation or 400 hours of previous sterile processing experience
