Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and oversee the implementation of critical strategies and programs across the manufacturing platform.
  • Leverage your expertise in designated areas, along with third-party engineering and OEM partnerships, to create automation projects that reduce labor costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry regulations and standards related to packaging equipment design and operations, using this knowledge to inform Conagra's policies and objectives.
  • Conduct technical and economic feasibility analyses for various groups within the organization, focusing on enhancements that provide competitive advantages.
  • Prepare comprehensive Front-End-Loading (FEL) packages that are clear, concise, and demonstrate thorough due diligence to ensure project success. These packages should include:
    • Technology assessments and recommended solutions that align with plant, Conagra, and industry best practices.
    • General arrangement drawings and physical location assessments.
    • Infrastructure requirements and needs evaluations.
    • Documentation for equipment acceptance criteria and support for testing and acceptance trials.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to establish project costs, schedules, risks, and startup requirements.
  • Define equipment/system performance criteria and identify alternatives, prerequisites, risks, and opportunities.
  • Draft detailed functional control descriptions for unit operations and processing systems.
  • Review FEL packages for accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness.
  • Generate rough order of magnitude estimates to provide the business with an early directional view of projects and their viability.
  • Engage in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives for existing packaging operations.
  • Lead enhancements in machine design and modifications to equipment.
  • Remain updated on the latest technologies and commercial applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or Packaging Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in food manufacturing with a focus on packaging system design.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, along with strong technical analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more areas of food production line packaging equipment.
  • Experience in machine design and familiarity with USDA/FDA food manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement automation and robotic solutions.
  • Experience in project engineering and execution.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies in engineering design.
  • Ability to translate project requirements into effective technical solutions through sound engineering principles.
  • Experience with packaging equipment engineering is essential, complemented by practical experience.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
