Nursing Department Director

The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for overseeing the Nursing Service Department at Bluestem Village. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the department to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Care Coordination
- Coordinate resident care with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical documents, reports, and evaluations.
- Evaluate accident and incident reports and implement interdisciplinary solutions.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available, including pharmaceuticals, resident personal supplies, and equipment.
- Review and prepare plans of care for each resident, identifying problems, needs, and goals.
- Coordinate with outside agencies, including hospitals, hospice, home health, lab, x-ray, and DME companies.
- Supervisory
- Develop, organize, implement, and evaluate nursing service department programs and activities.
- Prepare, plan, and participate in nursing in-service meetings.
- Determine and ensure appropriate staffing to meet resident needs.
- Interview, select, and assist in onboarding qualified staff for the nursing services department.
- Provide employee reviews, feedback, corrective actions, and determine dismissal of nursing services employees.
- Maintain confidentiality and rights of resident, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with PHI HIPAA policies and applicable regulations.
- Follow agency procedures when purchasing items on behalf of the agency.
- Follow agency policies and procedures in carrying out duties.
- Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.
- Safeguard all Bluestem Village funds and property, including those of our residents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Administrator, and/or designee.
Requirements- Must have a minimum of three years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, long-term care facility, or similar facility.
- Preferred to hold a Bachelor's Degree.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Colorado.
- CPR Certification.
Work Environment- Moves intermittently during working hours.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- Is subject to difficult and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
- Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Other- Must possess a valid and unrestricted Driver's License.
- Classification: Exempt.
- Maintain confidentiality and rights of resident, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with PHI HIPAA policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
- Pass background, CAPs, and pose no direct threat to the health or safety of individuals in the workplace.
- COVID Vaccine or Qualifying Exemption Required.
