Instructional Faculty Position in Hospitality Management

Job Description

Job Summary:

Montgomery College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced faculty member to join our Hospitality Management program. As a full-time instructor, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses within the program, including Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Customer Service in the Hospitality Industry, and Food and Beverage Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of courses within the Hospitality Management program, including lectures, labs, and practicums.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with industry standards and best practices.
  • Engage students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches.
  • Utilize educational technology, including Blackboard, to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Advise students about program curriculum, transfer options, and professional/career opportunities.
  • Participate in department, discipline, and college committees to contribute to the development of the Hospitality Management program.
  • Maintain an active program of professional development and participate in professional organizations and activities.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, Food Studies, or a related field.
  • Teaching or professional training experience in the hospitality management field.
  • Evidence of full-time work experience in the hospitality management industry at the management level or higher.
  • Ability to integrate technology and classroom-related computer software into course delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 18 or more credit hours in masters-level (or higher) Hospitality Management coursework.
  • Deep knowledge of hospitality technology, including virtual reality devices, Internet of Things, and hospitality software and applications.
  • At least five years of work experience in the hospitality management industry at the management level or higher.
  • At least three years of work experience in the culinary arts field.
  • At least two semesters of recent full-time or equivalent experience teaching.
  • Experience managing grants and grant-funded programs.
  • Experience supporting students with varying levels of preparedness for college-level work.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Experience leading academic initiatives.
  • Experience teaching blended/hybrid, and distance learning (online) courses.
