Cybersecurity Compliance Specialist (CCS), Level 2


The Level 2 CCS role is a mid-tier cybersecurity professional dedicated to providing guidance and support to the Government regarding the secure configuration and operation of IT resources.

Level 2 CCS professionals utilize their expertise and experience with standard cybersecurity principles, practices, and protocols. Please refer to the qualifications table for educational and experience requirements.

CCS Level 2 contractors should possess all CCS Level 1 qualifications in addition to the following preferred qualifications:

a. Comprehensive understanding and application of network security methodologies, practices, and implementations;
b. Familiarity with the integration of information systems within a physical security framework;
c. Proficient knowledge of system functionalities, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security protocols;
d. Understanding of system architectures including but not limited to client-server models, web hosting, content servers, policy servers, directory servers, firewalls, WAN, LAN, switches, and routers;
e. Acquainted with identifying and mitigating cybersecurity threats in a networked setting;
f. Proficient in configuration management, system upkeep, and integration testing;
g. Skilled in utilizing tools designed to prevent and/or mitigate malicious software;
h.

Knowledge of COTS tools that scan at the physical layer of all removable and fixed media types including but not limited to:
(CDs, hard drives, thumb drives, Zip/Jazz, etc.);
i. Ability to interpret and articulate Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503 in clear terms;
j. Capability to assist in forensics and evidence preservation;
k. Proficient in troubleshooting technical configurations and providing recommendations for safeguarding classified and sensitive information;
l. Proven ability to translate technical jargon into understandable language;
m. Ability to implement a risk management approach when addressing security challenges and clearly articulate the pros and cons;
n. Demonstrated proficiency with various operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows, LINUX, UNIX, Mac OS, etc.);
o. Analytical skills to interpret complex technical configuration management documents;
p. Proven experience in database management;
q. Strong capability to gather, articulate, and document information in an organized manner;
r. Proven ability to work independently without close supervision;
s. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
t. Familiarity with all relevant IC, DoD policies, procedures, and operational instructions related to Information Technology, Information Assurance, Information Management (IT/IA/IM);
u. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to foster relationships with military personnel, civilians, and other contractors at all levels;
v. Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and manage the workflow of the CCS team;
w. Proven ability to correlate audit results across various systems and/or users and inform the ISSM of any inconsistencies.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent; High School/GED and 8 years of relevant experience; Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent; Master's Degree or higher AND 2 years of relevant experience
Relevant experience includes information technology security, information systems security, and information assurance engineering.

Desired Qualifications:
a. Education relevant to computer engineering, information security, information management, and/or computer science
b. Experience in technical project management


Contractors performing CCS functions shall possess and maintain, or obtain within six months from their arrival date, professional Information Security (IS) certification(s) appropriate for the level of duty and responsibility of their position.
