Job Summary
The Dance Movement Therapist provides a clinical and evidence-based use of dance to meet individualized healthcare goals of patients through individual, group, or environmental intervention.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and provides appropriate dance movement interventions for patients.
- Manages resources, including time, staff, and budget.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the appropriate scope of Dance Movement Therapy within a clinical setting.
- Promotes communication with medical team, nursing, and other family support service departments.
- Actively develops community partnerships to promote Dance Movement Therapy.
- Develops and refines the Dance Movement Therapy program including research to identify best practice for achieving desired clinical outcomes.
- Documents Dance Movement Therapy interventions in patient charts in a timely and thorough manner including initial assessments and progress notes.
- Presents educational in-services about Dance Movement Therapy within the facility and in the community.
- Maintains accurate Dance Movement Therapy session statistics in quality assurance efforts.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Dance Movement Therapy from a program approved by the ADTA, or Master's Degree in related field with alternate route approved by the ADTA. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
- Registered Dance Movement Therapist (R-DMT).
- Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) preferred.
- One year of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Training in Yoga Therapy preferred.
Work Environment
Primary Children's at Lehi, Primary Children's at Wasatch Canyons, Primary Children's Hospital.
