Staff Nurse

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our Step Down Float Pool team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a Staff Nurse, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families, while working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities:- Deliver high-quality patient care by incorporating the principles of Relationship Centered Care and the nursing process.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills to manage patient care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prioritize patient care activities, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care, while delegating tasks as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing, demonstrating effective allocation of resources.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in nursing considered with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN program.
- Minimum 1 year experience in Med-surg nursing.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse with current registration in New York State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Certification in NRP, ACLS, and PALS, as applicable to the role.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English in a clear and concise manner.
- Visual, physical, auditory, and cognitive ability to assess patient status.
- Physical and mental health necessary to care for acutely ill patients with a broad variety of diagnoses and behaviors.
