Join Our Team as a Reference Laboratory Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reference Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at The Blood Center. As a key member of our Reference Laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operation of the reference/transfusion laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and industry standards.
  • Aid the staff in obtaining rare donor units through the Automated Rare Donor Program (ARDP) and maintaining a frozen inventory of rare units in-house.
  • Perform routine and complex testing, including serologic patient results, transfusion service testing, and molecular genotyping.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients on transfusion-related issues, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Assist in the validation of new equipment and writing of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification, with a preference for MT (ASCP) SBB certification.
  • LA CLS license and a BS degree in Medical Technology or Science with appropriate credentials.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in blood banking or at least five years of medical technology experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to consult with staff and clients on transfusion-related issues.
