Position Overview

HJH Investments is on the lookout for a dedicated Property Accountant to enhance our finance team. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals seeking a flexible schedule within a supportive, collaborative environment. The Property Accountant will manage daily accounting and financial tasks for a portfolio of commercial properties, including:

  • Executing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactions.
  • Reconciling general ledger entries and performing necessary journal entries for assigned properties.
  • Overseeing tenant recoveries, including Common Area Maintenance (CAM), taxes, and insurance.
  • Reviewing, posting, and monitoring tenant bill backs.
  • Delivering professional and responsive accounting support to internal stakeholders, property managers, tenants, and vendors.
  • Inputting tenant information and establishing new properties in Appfolio.
  • Assisting with financial planning and analysis, including budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Contributing to the development of protocols and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and consistency.

To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • Strong analytical, financial, and data management capabilities.
  • A background of 2-4 years in Commercial Property Management and/or Real Estate Development Accounting.
  • Familiarity with Appfolio or similar property management software is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Self-discipline and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while fostering positive working relationships.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • A strong motivation to learn and grow within the role and the organization.
