Unit Description:
The Medical Intermediate Critical Care Unit is a cutting-edge 29-bed facility dedicated to delivering patient-centered family care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Our mission is to offer the highest quality of care for patients who require a more intensive level of monitoring and treatment without the need for full intensive care.

Nursing Model:
We emphasize a Primary Care Nursing model, maintaining nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4 to ensure exceptional care delivery. Our nurses manage a diverse array of patients, including those with neurological, medical, and surgical needs, as well as patients requiring advanced respiratory support and continuous cardiac monitoring.

Responsibilities:
As a registered professional nurse, you will:
  • Assess, implement, delegate, plan, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care.
  • Collaborate effectively with other shifts and departments to ensure optimal continuity of care.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Valid Texas RN License or Eligible Compact License.
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • BSN required or must be obtained within three years of hire.
  • PCCN Certification preferred but not mandatory.

Orientation:
New hires will undergo:
  • UMC Hospital Orientation & Nursing Orientation.
  • ANCC PTAP accredited Nurse Residency Program.
  • Unit-specific orientation tailored by the hiring department.
  • Individualized orientation length determined by the Director.
  • Galen E-learning Curriculum Modules / Online Nursing Competency.
