Job Summary

The Research Nurse Specialist plays a vital role in supporting clinical nurses and patient care service line staff conducting research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice projects at Maine Medical Center.

This position involves coordinating various aspects of research within the Division of Nursing, serving as a resource for staff initiating research studies, and facilitating progress from conception to closeout.

The Research Nurse Specialist is the primary point of contact within the research infrastructure, guiding staff investigators through the lifecycle of a protocol, and providing expert assistance with IRB applications, study design, data management, and analysis.

This role requires a strong understanding of research-related policies and procedures, as well as analytical skills to manage complex projects and maintain records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate research studies from conception to closeout
  • Provide expert assistance with IRB applications, study design, data management, and analysis
  • Guide staff investigators through the research lifecycle
  • Manage complex projects and maintain records
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts within the organization
Requirements
  • PhD required
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine
  • Thorough knowledge of theory, practice, principles, processes, and issues of nursing
  • Knowledge of current research-related policies and procedures
