Job Summary:
As a Medication Therapy Specialist at Five Star Senior Living, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to administer medications to residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer oral and external medications to residents in accordance with their individualized care plans.
- Follow current standards of hygiene, safety, and infection control when handling, storing, and disposing of medications.
- Take and record vital signs as required to monitor residents' health status.
- Recognize and respect residents' rights to refuse medication, and document any such instances.
- Monitor residents who self-administer medications and report any deviations from their care plans to the nursing staff.
- Secure medication carts and storage areas to prevent unauthorized access.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in medication administration.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with residents, families, and healthcare staff.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
