Job Description

Arbor Lodging Management is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hotel Operations Manager to join our team at our Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Forest.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Manage the financial components of hotel operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Operations Management: Assist the General Manager in day-to-day hotel operations, including managing guest registration, night audits, guest reservations, housekeeping, laundry, and food and beverage areas.
  • Revenue Growth: Maximize room revenue by anticipating market shifts, developing and monitoring annual business and marketing plans, and participating in property sales and marketing efforts.
  • Capital Improvement Projects: Coordinate capital improvement projects to maintain and upgrade quality standards and property image, and to protect assets from neglect, damage, or deterioration.
  • Performance Management: Manage and monitor the property's profit and loss statement, provide detailed explanations for variances, and align and drive all aspects of hotel performance towards the attainment of budgeted revenue, RevPAR index, house profit, flow-through, guest satisfaction scores, and quality assurance scores.
  • Accounting and Compliance: Understand and apply accounting principles, including accruals, prepaids, balancing daily reports, GL coding, and ensure these are understood and applied correctly by the property controller.
  • Human Resources: Assist with the selection, training, counseling, and motivating of hourly associates.
  • Expense Management: Assist in monitoring the expenses of each departmental budget, with the exception of the Sales Department and Maintenance Department.
  • Revenue Programs: Participate in the development and implementation of revenue programs to ensure that the hotel's room occupancy, average daily rate, and RevPAR objectives are met.
  • Financial Reporting: Balance hotel books at the end of each period, prepare audit reports, and send end-of-period reports to corporate on the due date of each new period.
  • Vendor Management: Work with individual vendors to ensure services and invoices match, and to get the best price for supplies.
  • Key Control and Security: Assist in the maintenance of the key control program and ensure the security needs of the property and guests are met.
  • Communication and Information Systems: Ensure effective departmental communication and information systems through logs, department meetings, and hotel meetings.
Requirements:
  • Leadership and Role Modeling: Be a leader and role model to all associates.
  • Education and Experience: Degree required - minimum 2-year degree, and experience in a similar leadership role.
  • Guest Service: Ensure goals are met for all guest service-related measures.
  • Market Share: Maintain market share: hotel at natural rank or higher.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within all hotel disciplines, including experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation, and ability to bend, reach, or lift as required in this position.
