Medical Assistant Pulmonary Specialist

Role Summary:

The Pulmonary Medical Assistant will collaborate with the care team to deliver high-quality pulmonary care by performing and providing the following tasks and services:

  • Utilizing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to document patient clinical data, including medical history, vital signs, and other relevant information.
  • Preparing the exam room and patient for the appropriate visit, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience.
  • Performing Point of Service (POS) testing, ordering labs, and documenting patient results and medication requests via the EMR or by phone.
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment as determined by practice protocols, ensuring a safe and effective work environment.
  • Performing diagnostic procedures, such as pulmonary function tests and EKGs, as required.
  • Preparing and administering injections, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Obtaining pre-certifications and authorizations as needed for services, internal and external procedures to support the treatment plan.
Cross-Trained Administrative Tasks:
  • Patient Registration
  • Scheduling appointments and procedures
  • Answering and triaging phone calls, following up with patients, and performing other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Remote Patient Activities
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience required; pulmonology experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of EMR experience required; Eclinical Works experience preferred.
  • Formal Medical Assistant training required; BLS and/or CMA/RMA certification preferred.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Genuine passion for patient care expected.
