Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cashier to join our team at Colonial Downs Group LLC. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest service, handling cash and credit transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide next-level guest service to internal and external guests, demonstrating our company culture in all interactions.
  • Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members.
  • Resolve problems within the scope of authority and recommend courses of action to resolve problems beyond the scope of authority.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures and company policy.
  • Perform cash handling duties, including obtaining cash from the main bank and setting up the cash drawer.
  • Ensure accuracy in computing bills on the cash register and making correct change.
  • Closes the register at the end of each shift, including counting down the drawer and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Return cash to the main bank and leave a copy of the shift checkout in the Restaurant Mail Box.
  • Assure the assigned section is ready for service prior to opening the shift.
  • Ensure quality service standards are followed and use cost control measures.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding customer service standards.
  • Complete all assigned side work prior to leaving the shift.
  • Keep the position supervisor informed of relevant activities.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required licenses.
  • Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.

Position Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Virginia Racing Commission License, Serv-Safe.
