We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Program Manager to lead cross-functional teams in developing and deploying large-scale Natural Language Understanding (NLU) technologies for Apple products, such as Siri.
This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining complex software and machine learning models, establishing and implementing evaluation processes to ensure delightful end-to-end user experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Build and run project timelines with clear dependencies, critical path, and systematic methodology to communicate status.
- Handle risks and mitigations, and re-plan as events warrant.
- Drive alignment across the organization and between teams.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to define human annotation requirements vital to launch and maintain premier Apple software products.
- Drive on-time delivery and deployment, identifying development and feasibility needs, establishing achievements for checkpoints and status updates.
- Work with data science and data engineering teams to develop data collection and ML model evaluation solutions.
- Work with annotation operation teams to optimize and lead human data collection and evaluation efforts.
- Work with engineering, privacy, and legal teams to develop safe data collection.
- Work with research teams to develop long-term evaluation solutions.
- 6+ years of experience in project or program management shipping products driven by machine-learned systems to worldwide users.
- Strong analytical skills and obsession for data, solid understanding of metrics measuring machine learning models and overall system quality.
- Demonstrated data-driven decision-making skills, including experience leading metrics-driven projects or programs.
- Ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly and independently manage complex project objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to independently draft and present deliverables, recommendations, and communication strategies.
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Have personally orchestrated the delivery of multiple significant client/server software products requiring large organizations to accomplish.
- Superior group facilitation, interviewing, and influence skills.
- Prior PM or engineering experience in machine learning, natural language understanding, or search.
- Knowledge in machine learning infrastructure and data pipeline, and/or model evaluation.
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree with a focus in machine learning, data mining, or statistics.
At Apple, we offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a base pay range of $165,500 to $293,800, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Additionally, Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through our Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
We also offer comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses related to advancing your career at Apple.
Relocation may be eligible for this role, and we offer discretionary bonuses or commission payments.
