Position Overview

The Patient Transport Specialist is responsible for the safe loading, transporting, and unloading of patients for medical appointments and recreational activities, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards set forth by Life Care Centers of America.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or commercial driver's license in the applicable state, with a clean driving record as per Life Care standards
  • CDL certification is mandatory
  • Previous experience in healthcare or geriatrics is preferred
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of the vehicle
  • Oversee routine maintenance (including oil changes, tire rotations, etc.)
  • Make independent decisions when necessary
  • Familiarity with the practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care environment
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Foster professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others
  • Uphold confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information
  • Comply with company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing all required compliance training
Essential Duties
  • Safely load, transport, and unload patients
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
  • Assist in patient evacuation procedures
  • Exhibit reliable and consistent attendance
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving throughout the workday
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
