Job Summary

The Medical Assistant-Patient Service Specialist is a vital member of the healthcare team, providing administrative and clinical support to ensure quality care to patients and the smooth day-to-day operation of the physician practice. This role requires a unique blend of medical knowledge, technical skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Medical Assistant Functions:
    • Take vitals when necessary
    • Prepare the daily schedules for the office
    • Record patient history, chief complaint, pharmacy info, prescription list, etc. into EMR
    • Supply ordering and stocking of rooms
    • Ordering tests, obtaining prior authorizations, and requesting referrals
  • Patient Service Specialist Functions:
    • Answers, triages, and routes telephone calls appropriately
    • Provides routine information to callers
    • Schedules patients' appointments and appropriate testing
    • Verifies information from patients, including demographic and health insurance information
    • Prepare documents for billing physician encounters
Qualifications

Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant program; new students welcome to apply. High School Diploma or equivalent required. 2 to 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Experience as a Patient Service Specialist preferred. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
