Position Overview:


The Animal Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting Veterinarians and Credentialed Veterinary Technicians in the management of animal care, as well as maintaining the hospital and its equipment.

This position is essential for ensuring a clean, efficient, and healthy environment for animals receiving treatment or boarding.

The Animal Care Technician is responsible for advocating for the well-being of patients and educating clients about their pets' health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians during appointments, prepare animals for surgical procedures, and set up necessary equipment.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples, including fecal, urine, and cytology samples.
  • Safely and compassionately restrain animals during examinations and procedures.
  • Accurately monitor and record vital signs of patients.
  • Document any changes in a pet's condition and notify the veterinary team of any concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the medical team, from customer service staff to kennel technicians.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the hospital, including treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgical suites.
  • Care for and maintain all medical equipment essential for daily operations.
  • Provide compassionate and professional communication with clients regarding their pets' status and address any inquiries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth hospital operations.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:
  • Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians with various tasks, including surgical assistance and diagnostic tests.
  • Safely restrain animals and obtain accurate medical histories.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples.
  • Maintain and care for medical equipment.
  • Provide high-quality communication with clients regarding patient updates.

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of animal handling and medical procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
