Job Responsibilities

As a State Police Trooper Trainee, you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving formal and field instruction in police science courses, including motor vehicle law, laws, techniques and mechanics of arrest, and more
  • Participating in physical training and self-defense tactics
  • Developing oral communication skills and public speaking abilities
  • Working in a team environment to provide public safety services
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Pass a Physical Ability test prior to appointment
  • Establish residence within Connecticut just prior to completion of the State Police Training Academy

Training and Development

As a State Police Trooper Trainee, you will participate in a comprehensive training program that includes:

Work Locations

State Police Trooper Trainees will be assigned to one of the 11 State Police Troops throughout the state, including:

  • Western District: Bridgeport, Canaan, Litchfield, and Southbury
  • Central District: Bethany, Hartford Bradley Airport, and Westbrook
  • Eastern District: Colchester, Danielson, Montville, and Tolland
