Key Responsibilities- Animal Care and Husbandry: Assist in routine and special feeding, watering, handling, and primary enclosure exchanging for all species housed in the vivarium facilities.
- Environmental Monitoring: Monitor animal room environments (temperature, photoperiods, and humidity), record environmental data, and report abnormalities to appropriate individual(s).
- Sanitation and Cleaning: Operate cage-washers, autoclave, and automatic water bottle filler and bedding dispenser. Use pressure washer and floor scrubber for secondary enclosure sanitation.
- Animal Handling and Restraint: Assist clinical staff with animal handling and restraint, including conditioning and treatments of all species under direct supervision.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Responsible for daily barcoding of animal cage cards for billing and census purposes.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in receipt of delivered animals and inspection for obvious health abnormalities. Read, comprehend, and follow standard operating procedures (SOP's) related to biohazardous agents used in the Vivarium.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED Required Minimum
- Work Experience: 1 Year Experience - Preferred
- License/Certification: Assistant Laboratory Animal Tech (ALAT) - Preferred
