Job Overview:
As a Prevention Specialist I, you will:
  • Offer guidance and technical support to substance use prevention coalitions and various organizations focused on evidence-based methods and the Strategic Prevention Framework in the Barren River Region, aimed at curbing substance misuse among youth.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members at the Regional Prevention Center to align collaborative efforts with a needs assessment-driven work plan, CMHC work plan, YE deliverables, and collaboration deliverables.
  • Assist in gathering community-level needs assessment data through evaluation activities, including focus groups, interviews, and environmental scans.
  • Establish proactive communication with multiple stakeholders.
  • Document all service data in the Prevention Data System.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a human services discipline (e.g., Addiction, Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Sociology, Education).
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a human services role.
  • The ability to apply for a Certified Prevention Specialist certification within two years of employment.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for job-related duties.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and statewide.
  • Proven skills in building relationships, trust, and fostering connections with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong organizational, verbal/written communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, presentation preparation, and report development skills.
  • The capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision, utilizing planning and problem-solving skills.
