Position Overview

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is dedicated to supporting the homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals in Washington, DC. With a comprehensive range of programs, we aim to provide essential services that foster mental and physical well-being, sobriety, job training, and affordable housing, ultimately guiding families towards independent living.

Role Summary: We are looking for a full-time Night Manager (live on-site) to oversee our Family Services department at the Liz Donahue house/Knoll Place location. The Night Manager will reside on the premises, ensuring a secure and respectful environment for families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Security: Ensure the safety of the property during night hours, maintain a log of activities, and report any security issues to management.
  • Maintenance Duties: Conduct light cleaning and upkeep of the facility, ensuring a clean and dignified living space for residents.
  • Community Engagement: Foster a positive relationship with residents and local law enforcement, assisting with any emergencies or resident needs as they arise.

Work Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM (40 hours/week)

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Some High School education; 1-3 years of experience in security, residential services, or janitorial work.
  • Preferred: High School Diploma/GED; 3-5 years of janitorial experience; familiarity with serving low-income families; valid Driver's License.

Certifications Required: CPR/First Aid and AED Certification. The Night Manager must live on-site in provided accommodations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of basic cleaning and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective time management and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Contributions to the Role:

  • Safety Oversight: Monitor the facility after hours, conduct regular property walkthroughs, and manage security systems.
  • Program Support: Enforce community living guidelines, assist with resident needs, and collaborate with staff during programs.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness: Ensure common areas are clean and well-maintained, including snow and ice removal during winter months.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Program Manager.
