We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at Hanover County Public Schools.
The successful candidate will provide extended support to students with disabilities who are demonstrating behavioral difficulties in the school setting.
Under the direction of an HCPS consultative teacher/special educator, the Behavioral Support Specialist will implement behavioral strategies as outlined in the student's individualized education program (IEP).
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behavioral strategies to support students with disabilities
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop and implement individualized behavior plans
- Provide one-on-one support to students in the classroom and in small group settings
- Monitor and record student behavior, making recommendations for modifications to the behavior plan as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Knowledge of behavioral strategies and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
