The Cancer Center at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor role specializing in pediatric cancer developmental therapeutics.
Research and SupportThe successful candidate will be integrated into the Texas Regional Excellence in Cancer (TREC) Developmental Therapeutics Center, which is backed by the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). TREC faculty engage in both translational and clinical research focused on the development of cancer therapeutics, supported by various funding sources including CPRIT, the National Cancer Institute, and the Department of Defense.
Resources and CollaborationsFaculty members will have access to essential resources such as pharmacology support, cancer animal models, a comprehensive cancer biobank, and an early-phase clinical trial consortium. Additionally, the Children's Oncology Group Childhood Cancer Repository at TTUHSC provides valuable patient-derived cell lines and xenografts for research collaborations.
QualificationsApplicants should possess a terminal degree (MD or MD/PhD, or equivalent) and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing funded research. The rank and salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to candidates who are pediatric oncology physician-scientists, with limited clinical service obligations.
Departmental StructureThe primary appointment will be within the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine, with an additional appointment in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences to facilitate the recruitment of outstanding graduate students from relevant programs.
