Job Summary

Role Summary: As a Speech Pathologist at Mission Hospital, you will be responsible for evaluating patients, developing care plans to treat patients, and using procedures and techniques to change condition/function consistent with the rehabilitation diagnosis and prognosis. You will also supervise and coordinate therapeutic care, communicate evaluation results to patients, families, and appropriate staff, and teach and mentor other staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct subjective assessments of assigned patients' speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
  • Administer objective tests to assess patients' communication assets and liabilities.
  • Structure and implement individualized patient programs to improve communication abilities.
  • Evaluate patients regularly during treatment and adjust programs as needed to maximize patient progress.
  • Document progress in patients' charts, complete notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
  • Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology, or Communication Disorders, or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • Current North Carolina License to practice Speech Therapy, ASHA certification, and BLS Healthcare Provider.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or CFY, clinical affiliations with a wide variety of acute care procedures, especially videofluorographic swallow evaluations and non-instrumental swallow evaluations.
