**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist Specialist to join our team at Physicians East. As a key member of our clinical laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures, collecting and processing blood samples, and ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and arterial punctures, to collect blood samples from patients.
  • Process and transport blood samples to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
  • Verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing and testing.
  • Enter patient information and test orders into the laboratory information system (LIS) accurately and efficiently.
  • Train and supervise lower-level phlebotomists and student externs in phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring expendable supplies and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform quality control procedures for equipment and ensure compliance with clinical and laboratory guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, colleagues, and management.
  • Adhere to department and office policies, including safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a certified phlebotomy program with at least 5 years of relevant experience performing phlebotomy/laboratory functions in a medical setting.
  • Experience with departmental operating policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
