Job Description:

The Clinical Nurse Support Specialist provides clinical nursing support to Williamson Health Medical Group by communicating clinical information to patients and businesses, scheduling tests and consultations, obtaining clinical specimens, assessing patients, performing clinical office procedures, and maintaining adequate clinical supplies.

Responsibilities:
  1. Accurately records patient's medical history and vital signs
  2. Gives patients immunizations and injections as appropriate
  3. Counsel patients on health-related issues
  4. Orders and maintains medications
  5. Coordinates outpatient care with local businesses
  6. Secures consultations and specialists
  7. Triages phone calls
  8. Prepares special drug and care requests
  9. Trains new employees within WHMG pulmonary and sleep medicine
  10. Assists physician with med/surg procedures
  11. Observes universal precautions
  12. Monitors sample drug closet
  13. Observes proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
  14. Coordinates with local pharmacies to ensure patients have adequate supplies of medicine
Requirements:
  • Formal Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university
  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Workplace Experience: At least one year of experience in a medical office environment.
  • Equipment and Skills Training: Must be competent in the use of a Glucometer, BP cuff, thermometer, computer, autoclave, stethoscope, audioscope, business phone, and various oral and injectable medications.
