Patient Safety Specialist

Job Summary:
The Patient Safety Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in our care. As a member of the CDH Resource Team, this individual will be responsible for providing continuous safety observation and support to patients who require close monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remain at the bedside of assigned patients at all times, unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
- Provide calming and reorienting conversation with patients in cases of agitation or confusion.
- Identify and remove hazards from the patient and patient environment, and report as appropriate.
- Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, as delegated by supervising RN, including ambulating, toileting, and assisting with bed making and positioning.
- Provide continuous safety observation via continuous video monitoring of patients identified to be at risk for causing injury to themselves or others.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Offer basic comfort measures to help patients relax and address the emotional needs of specific patients served, including the use of encouragement, distraction, coping strategies, cognitive stimulation activities, and de-escalation techniques within the scope of this role as appropriate.
- Remotely monitor multiple patients via continuous video monitoring.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- Physical Demands Requirement:
- Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds
