Job Overview

As a Patient Care Technician with Deaconess, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your responsibilities will include performing various care activities and related services necessary to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide basic patient care requirements, treatments, and procedures under the direction of the RN
  • Communicate pertinent findings or observations to the RN
  • Assist professional staff with basic life support principles
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care
Unit Description

The Stepdown unit is a 16-bed unit specializing in the care of ICU Stepdown patients. Our team provides central monitoring services to Gateway Hospital and The Heart Hospital. We offer a variety of experiences, a learning/teaching model, and an excited and motivated staff. Teamwork is key on this busy unit as we strive to provide high-quality patient care.

Certifications and Education
  • Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider certification within six months of hire
  • Basic Dysrhythmia Class certification within six months of hire
  • Optional Advanced Splinting Class
  • High school education or equivalent (GED) and be 18 years of age
  • Completion of a PCT class as required by the care center/unit
  • Hospital required classes and competencies
