Job Overview

Position Summary

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with the club's standard recipes, ensuring a clean and sanitary work environment, and managing the setup and breakdown of all cooking stations.

Compensation ranges from $18 to $21 per hour, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. This includes a fully employer-funded medical option, dental coverage, paid vacation, sick leave, and a 401k plan. Vacation time begins to accrue immediately and can be utilized after a specified period of employment. Medical and dental benefits become available after a designated timeframe, and eligibility for the 401k plan commences after one year of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizes the work area and requests necessary supplies according to established protocols.
  • Follows club-standard recipes meticulously while preparing assigned dishes, which may include:
    • Large batch recipes such as soups and sauces.
    • Cooking meats, grilling, deep-frying, sautéing, and preparing salads and garnishes.
  • Properly stores all meats, poultry, and seafood with appropriate labeling.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all workspaces.
  • Informs supervisors of any anticipated shortages in supplies.
  • Practices safe and sanitary food handling, including personal hygiene standards.
  • Returns used kitchen utensils and equipment to designated areas.
  • Ensures a tidy workstation, including all food preparation equipment.
  • Complies with local and state health regulations regarding food safety.
  • Assists with dishwashing duties as required or directed.
  • Operates food production and serving equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Provides suggestions for the maintenance and repair of kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Supports other tasks as assigned by the Sous Chef, Executive Chef, or Food and Beverage Manager.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Food safety certification is required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform various physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Engages in continuous repetitive motions.
  • Works in a hot, humid, and noisy kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required, along with two or more years of relevant experience or training.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to work overtime as necessary.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures relevant to the culinary field.
