Job Summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Fairfax Health Center in Fairfax, Virginia. This position will be for the evening shift from 11:30-8pm.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients who are active military, veterans, and their dependents. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Screening patient information and collecting and processing specimens for testing.
  • Performing testing in various laboratory sections, including Microbiology, Chemistry, Serology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Immunohematology.
  • Checking patient identification and ordering tests into the Composite Health Care System.
  • Instructing patients on proper specimen collection techniques and providing them with necessary equipment and containers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Graduation from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or state licensure as a medical laboratory technician.
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
