Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator

Job Summary:

The Senior Systems Administrator is a critical role within our IT team, responsible for the installation, configuration, backup, and maintenance of our organization's infrastructure servers and associated peripherals. This position requires a strong technical skillset, technological knowledge, and a commitment to serving our internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Hibbett's Wintel/Linux systems, monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
  • Manage, support, and configure the VCenter/VMWare environment, seeking efficiencies in resource utilization.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix, and document problems, implementing preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.
  • Define and document best practices and strategies for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Educate teams on new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary.
  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Lead external vendors to ensure the production environment runs at maximum efficiency.
  • Manage backups using the TSM toolset, validating jobs are completed, and troubleshooting failed jobs.
  • Own the Active Directory environment and be proficient in related systems/tools.
  • Implement new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Perform proactive monitoring and system troubleshooting, leading problem-solving efforts involving outside vendors and support personnel.
  • Manage and maintain the Zerto environment, ensuring data resiliency across the production environment.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable performance of mission-critical computer resources.
  • Maintain and follow procedures to maintain security and protect systems.
  • Stay current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommend ways for Hibbett to leverage new technology.
  • Ensure reliability and availability of hardware and software components providing fault tolerance, load balancing, and disaster recovery methods.
  • Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current MCSE certification required.
  • Current VMWare or equivalent certification required.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure, Microsoft Server Operating Systems 2016 and above, Linux/Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04, 16.04, VCenter/VMWare, Microsoft Active Directory 2008/2012/2016, Zerto, DELL Hyper-converged environment, EMC VNX SAN/Unity, PowerShell Scripting and Automation, Microsoft 365 Suite, Cloud-Based Computing, Cisco UCS Blade Servers, Microsoft Failover Clustering, Dell Data Domain/Cybersense backup, ServiceNow, and Kubernetes.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
