VNS Health is seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health team, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals struggling with substance use and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to locate and enroll clients in our programs and services.
  • Build relationships and trust with clients and their families, providing education and support to empower them to take an active role in their recovery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to discuss care needs and identify solutions to support clients.
  • Apply your lived experience and expertise to provide peer support and advocacy services.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans, providing ongoing education, guidance, and support to clients.
  • Document client interactions and progress in our electronic health record system.
  • Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and training programs to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a mental health, substance use treatment program, healthcare, or human services setting.
  • Experience working with severely mentally ill, trauma-affected, and substance-using populations preferred.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Computer literacy and valid New York State driver's license required.
