Clinical Nutritionist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nutritionist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Clinical Nutritionist, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to our patient population, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement nutrition care plans.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement nutrition care plans based on assessment of nutritional needs and performance of nutrition-focused physical nutrition assessment.
- Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals concerning patient's nutritional care and provide recommendations for appropriate nutritional therapy.
- Counsel individuals and families in nutritional principles, meal planning, and selection of nutritional supplements or special products.
- Refer patients to other professionals for proper financial assistance and psychosocial intervention.
- Communicate nutritional problems, diet history, and nutritional data through documentation to meet accreditation and regulatory agency's standards.
- Participate in patient care meetings, other healthcare team rounds, conferences, and assigned committees.
- Provide in-depth nutritional evaluation and follow-up continuity care for assigned patients.
- Develop educational materials to assist in patient education and management of diet-related problems.
- Mentor and supervise interns/students as assigned.
- Attend professional meetings and continuing educational programs required for maintaining registration status.
- BS or BA in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field and Registered Dietitian. NYS Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist.
- Greater than 3 years of experience in clinical dietetics.
- Demonstrates ability to conduct a nutrition-focused physical exam.
- Recent teaching hospital experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
