Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nutritionist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Clinical Nutritionist, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to our patient population, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective nutrition care plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans based on assessment of nutritional needs and performance of nutrition-focused physical assessments.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide recommendations for nutritional therapy.
  • Counsel individuals and families on nutritional principles, meal planning, and nutritional supplement selection.
  • Refer patients to other professionals for financial assistance and psychosocial intervention.
  • Communicate nutritional problems, diet history, and nutritional data through documentation to meet accreditation and regulatory agency standards.
  • Participate in patient care meetings, healthcare team rounds, conferences, and assigned committees.
  • Provide in-depth nutritional evaluations and follow-up continuity care for assigned patients.
  • Develop educational materials to assist in patient education and management of diet-related problems.
  • Mentor and supervise interns/students as assigned.
  • Attend professional meetings and continuing educational programs to maintain registration status.
Requirements
  • BS or BA in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field and Registered Dietitian certification.
  • NYS Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist.
  • Greater than 3 years of experience in clinical dietetics.
  • Ability to conduct a nutrition-focused physical exam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent teaching hospital experience.
Work Environment

Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas. All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.

Stony Brook University Hospital offers a competitive salary range of $67,000 - $75,000, plus additional benefits, including a generous leave package, health plans, and state pension.
