The Opportunity:
Perkins Eastman is seeking a dynamic and driven Senior Project Architect for our Raleigh office. This role focuses on overseeing Construction Administration, where you will manage construction contracts for significant projects, provide insights on construction methodologies, adhere to building regulations, interpret construction documents, process shop drawings and submittals, and collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Project Designer, and principal-in-charge.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about leveraging their technical expertise and construction administration skills on diverse projects, including multi-family housing, senior living facilities, and mixed-use developments currently in progress within the North Carolina area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate design sketches, maintain daily communication with construction managers/general contractors, mentor junior staff, and offer technical guidance on projects, including investigation, assessment, and recommendations for design solutions that align with project and client requirements.
- Actively participate in and represent Perkins Eastman during Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of state and local building codes and referenced standards.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Over 8 years of experience in architectural practice and construction administration across various building types in the region.
- A professional degree in architecture is preferred, along with licensure, though not mandatory.
- Proven experience in managing multiple facets of client, team, and project coordination, including comprehensive documentation coordination with project consultants.
- Strong knowledge of state and local building codes and referenced standards.
- Ability to interpret, communicate, and present design intent while finding solutions with general contractors, owners, and team members throughout the construction process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration with engineers, owners, and builders, fostering a respectful office environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word & Excel, AutoCAD, Adobe, and Bluebeam is essential.
- Familiarity with Revit and experience with Navisworks or other MEP coordination software is preferred.
- Experience with Newforma, ProCore, or other construction project management software is required (training will be provided).
Work Arrangement:
This position is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days of remote work, with flexible scheduling options.
