Job Summary:

The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist performs diagnostic and therapeutic angiographic or catheterization procedures. The technologist is responsible for ensuring equipment is functioning properly and producing and evaluating data, information, and images used by the physician in the performance of the procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patient's vital signs, interpreting status information, and performing functions as a monitor, scrub, or circulating technologist.
  • Assists in educating patients, family members, and cath team members.
  • Stocks inventory and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health Hospital for On Call requirements.
  • Minimum two-year Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech experience (including clinical time).
  • Experience with physiological monitoring systems, sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations, and pacemaker implantations.
  • Graduate of a program of study leading to credentials as CVT, RCIS, RN, RRT, RT(R), RVT with current national registry in applicable discipline, and eligible for certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
  • RCIS required or meet qualifications for certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) after appropriate procedures performed.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the GHS Staff Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date.

Physical Requirements:

The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
