Job Summary

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Specialist is responsible for ensuring that equipment is functioning properly, producing and evaluating data, information, and images used by physicians in the performance of designated patient procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patient vital signs, interpreting status information, and performing functions in one or more of the following: monitoring procedures, assisting with patient preparation/recovery, transporting patients to/from the department.
  • Assists with educating patients, family members, and cath team, as well as stocks/reorders inventory items and generally assists with other duties as assigned while exhibiting exemplary customer service core values.
Requirements
  • Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health Hospital for On Call requirements.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech (including clinical time) required.
  • Prior experience with physiological monitoring systems required.
  • Prior experience with Sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations, and pacemaker/ICD implantations required.
Education and Certifications
  • Graduate of a program of study leading to credentials as RN, RRT, RT(R), RVT, Paramedic/EMT with current national registry in applicable discipline, and eligible for certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • OR Graduate of a program of Cardiovascular Technology and RCIS eligible.
  • OR If certified and/or qualified Navy Corpsman/Army/Air Force Medic, the above educational requirement may be waived if applicant is eligible for RCIS credential status based on the requirements set forth by CCI.
Special Skills
  • Ability to work efficiently, responsibly, and in a team-oriented atmosphere with multiple work demands required.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations that arise in high-risk procedures required.
  • Flexibility with work schedule required to work overtime or over shift with little or no notice due to patient case demands.
