Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit, your responsibilities will include coordinating and delivering patient care for all assigned individuals. You will perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients and their families, create personalized care plans, provide family-centered education, identify and address deviations from care plans, and assist with discharge planning and education.
Your duties will encompass conducting admission interviews upon patient arrival and thoroughly documenting assessments.
You will recognize changes in patient conditions and respond promptly by notifying the physician or charge nurse.
Assessing and documenting patient educational needs and the instructions provided during admission and throughout their stay will be part of your role.
Providing psychological and social support to patients and their families is essential.
You will facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning.
Accurate medication administration and documentation will be required.
Maintaining communication with the physician and/or Clinical Nurse Coordinator regarding significant patient and family information or changes is crucial.
You will continuously evaluate care plans to determine necessary modifications.
Delivering individualized nursing interventions based on care plans and documenting patient responses will be expected.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required per St. David's Healthcare policy.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required per St. David's Healthcare policy.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required per St. David's Healthcare policy.
