Role Summary:

The Custodian at Grow Academy plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the Academy and its immediate surroundings. This position involves utilizing various cleaning equipment and tools, including buffers, vacuums, mops, and a range of cleaning materials to maintain the hygiene and appearance of floors, walls, windows, restrooms, kitchens, carpets, furniture, and outdoor areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and mopping of designated areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and supply levels in restrooms as required.
  • Dust and clean horizontal surfaces multiple times a week.
  • Empty and maintain outdoor trash receptacles on a daily basis.
  • Assist in preparing facilities for meetings and events.
  • Relocate furniture, equipment, and supplies as necessary.
  • Secure buildings by locking and unlocking as needed, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Keep outdoor areas free from litter and debris.
  • Report maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures related to job responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with basic cleaning techniques and practices.
  • Capability to follow instructions regarding the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; bilingual candidates are preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous custodial or maintenance experience in educational or commercial environments is advantageous.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move arms to manipulate various objects.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods and walk significant distances.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read small print and work near equipment with moving parts.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
  • Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels.
