About the Position

The Development Manager will play a critical role in supporting the growth and success of Playworks Utah. This position will be responsible for leading the development and fundraising efforts for the region, working closely with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to design and implement annual development plans. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful fundraising, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across regions and departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fundraising: The Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and securing funding sources, including foundation and corporate partnerships, public funding, and individual donors. This will involve developing and implementing fundraising strategies, managing relationships with donors, and coordinating events and solicitations.
  • Event Management: The Development Manager will lead the planning and execution of 2-3 annual special events, including securing sponsorships, managing event logistics, and coordinating internal efforts to ensure donor-centric events.
  • Individual Donor Cultivation and Management: The Development Manager will manage and coordinate individual donor solicitations, including spring and end-of-year appeals, major donor campaigns, and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
  • Corporate Partner Volunteer Engagement: The Development Manager will manage and expand the corporate volunteer program, bringing additional volunteers to the Playworks community.
  • Presentation Materials & Funding Proposals: The Development Manager will lead the creation of pitch decks, corporate and foundation grant proposals, and reports, as well as stewardship pieces.
  • Pipeline Management: The Development Manager will be responsible for building and managing a foundation, corporate, and individual donor pipeline to achieve philanthropic and relationship management goals.
  • Research: The Development Manager will research and identify new sources of support, including proactively conducting outreach to initiate and strengthen relationships.
  • Board Partnership and Development: The Development Manager will support and promote the recruitment and retention of Playworks Utah regional board members, set and host monthly meetings, and support board fundraising plans and activities.
Marketing & Communication:
  • Fundraising and Brand Awareness Campaigns: The Development Manager will conduct fundraising and brand awareness campaigns for Playworks Utah region.
  • Partnership with Staff: The Development Manager will partner with staff to develop and manage Playworks Utah's social media strategy, implement tactics to increase followers, deepen engagement, and manage and drive increased inbound traffic to the regional website.
  • Collaboration with Program Staff: The Development Manager will collaborate with Utah program staff and Mountain hub staff to collect, organize, and publish local success stories on relevant platforms.
  • Writing and Editing: The Development Manager will write and edit news releases, op-eds, post-event recaps, and advisories, pitch press outlets to generate stories and profiles, and respond to all inbound media requests.
Administrative Support:
  • Data Management: The Development Manager will enter and maintain accurate information within databases to ensure data integrity and efficiency of information.
  • Analysis: The Development Manager will be responsible for tracking and reporting on key metrics to produce fundraising, event, and volunteer reports on a regular basis.
  • Calendar Management: The Development Manager will support and maintain the Grant, Development, and Marketing calendars to ensure all corporate, volunteer, and event deadlines are successfully met.
