Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Operations Maintenance Manager to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a key member of our Operations Department, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to our Asset Management staff, directing maintenance operations staff and resources, and collaborating with counterparts within the district and statewide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an inspection and preventative maintenance process to identify and correct emerging issues.
  • Lead and direct inspection, maintenance, and installation of traffic control devices.
  • Collaborate with counterparts within the district and statewide to ensure effective maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement long and short-range strategic plans and goals, set measures, and evaluate results.
  • Provide and promote outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
Requirements
  • Ability to set priorities and assignments in emergency situations.
  • Ability to evaluate program effectiveness and improve processes and work methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of contract administration principles and practices.
  • Ability to lead committees or groups.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and manage budgets and financial resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing traffic engineering operational and maintenance activities, programs, and staff.
  • Experience in public relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer and software skills to include traffic control device applications and programs.
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in engineering, public administration, business administration, or related field.
